Stuff and Things

I thought I should update this since it's been quite some time.

April and I went to the doctor a few weeks ago and heard the heartbeat of the baby! We are super excited and just starting to get things prepared. Pretty soon we'll find out if it's a boy or a girl which would let us start decorating. So far we have cleaned out some of the guest room so we can turn it into the nursery. We plan on getting new carpet (because of the dogs) and once that's in then we can start placing furniture and stuff.

We somewhat developed themes if its a boy or girl. We both aren't into the "baby" type decorations so we are going to put something together ourselves.

We do have some furniture for the room. I was able to get the crib from my grandmother that was my dad's and uncles when they were babies in the 40's and 50's. I downloaded the federal guidelines on cribs and I'm going to have to retrofit it a little bit to bring it up to standards. I was also able to find the matching highchair in an antique store. That was an awesome find!

I'll keep everyone updated if it's a boy or girl as soon as we find out!

News

Sooo... April and I are going to have a baby! Finally it's happening! She's about 10.5 weeks so far and we are so excited. It's been quite the emotional roller coaster these past several months. We've been trying to having a baby for about 8 or 9 months or so and we finally got all the pieces to come together. We've been quite busy with all the blood tests, medicine dosages, doctors visits every three days, etc. We are so blessed to have the chance to be parents.

We went in last week for our first real ultrasound and let me tell you that that was awesome! Our little peanut is about 1.5 inches long now and the due date is approximately February 10th. Of course both sets of parents are excited to be grandparents now and they call to check in all the time. My mom has bought us books to read and such.

At first April was very sick all day every day but that seems to be tapering off now. I hope that trend continues and give her some relief. Morning sickness is really 24 Hour Sickness.

We just decided which room to make the baby room and now we have to start moving furniture around and stuff. We plan on getting new carpet in the coming month or two and then rearrange all the furniture then.

We are super excited and keep April and I (especially April) in your prayers that everything continues to go well.

Ah...Technology

In our recent visit to our property, just as I was about to leave to come back home, I looked in the woods and noticed some things that were out of place. We have an old (circa 1900) wood house on our property that's in disrepair. I noticed one of the doors from the house outside and propped up were it was vertically on its side. As I walked closer I noticed a giant hole behind the door as well as other doors/ sheet metal propped up against trees. Several of the trees were also damaged.

Then I found the best evidence...airsoft BBs. Green and white ones all over the ground. So now I've got kids on our property playing airsoft wars on our property. I don't blame them, it does sound fun. I pictured a kind of real life version on the "Estate" map from CounterStrike. I had a feeling of who it was basically by reasons of deduction. The house is near the road and only neighbors that we can see our across the street and they have a 14 and 10 year old boys. My suspicions were confirmed when I started filling in the hole and another neighbor drove by and saw me and informed me that his wife saw those boys playing on our property.

So I went across the street to talk to the boys' mom and she was apologetic. She was going to have them fill in the hole and put the stuff away.

Well, since I'm not too trusting, I came back home and bought this. Don't you just love technology! It's used for wildlife but it'll work on kids just as well. I was worried about the flash but its an Infrared flash so we're all good. It'll take single, multi shots and 10s to 1min videos. We're headed down there this weekend and I'm going to install it in a tree somewhere.

Take that kids that live on my street! Ah ha!

Happenings

It seems that every time I go to write on the blog, I forget what I'm going to write about. Life currently has been very stressful. April tutors two students after school now, which helps with her paycheck, but she doesn't get home until about 8 or so every night. Work for me has been slow slow slow. This economy needs to turn around soon! We have a few co-ops working for us and we now tell them to come into work around 10am every day and to stay home on Fridays.

We've been going down to Claxton about once a month over the winter. Our main goal now is to pest proof the barn by closing in the wall/roof seam. We've been buying and moving in furniture into the barn in preparation for the house build. We find deals on craigslist and yardsales and fix up the pieces and bring to the barn. Lately we just finished the vanity for the guest bathroom. April bought a dresser from a yardsale for $10. We painted it black and mounted faucets and vessel sinks on the top. I turned the top drawer into a flip out drawer due to the plumbing underneath. Take a look at this picture, it's not quite done in the picture, but you get the idea.

We also want you guys to be praying for us. We've got a lot going on now. First thing is that be praying for us as we are dealing with trying to have a baby. It's been about 6-7 months of trying and still no go. Right now the fertility medicine seems to kind of work and they just doubled the dosage. Just be praying that this stuff works because the next steps can get pretty expensive. It's been a roller coaster of emotions for us lately with, yeah we're pregnant...three days later...just kidding!

Also pray that work picks up for me or that I find a new job. I've been searching around Savannah for work and depending on the timing of it, I might have to work in Savannah and live with April's parents while April is up here working at school. That is going to be difficult for us.

We feel God has something big planned for us in the future and we feel we are right on the cusp of that change. We just need patience and wisdom in this time of change.

It's 2011!

We had a good New Year party with several friends of ours. We were done in Warner Robbins and stayed at a friends house. We stayed up all night and watched the "New Years Rockin' Eve" and let me tell you, the music "talent" they get for that show is awful. I think I could grab a few guys together and make a better band than some of these people. The main concept with "artists" these days is if I can't sing, use autotune and put several half naked dancing girls behind me.

This year I've started it off by cleaning out our house. I've been through the attic and guest room closet and either threw stuff away or I'm currently selling it on ebay. I've listed about 35 items on ebay and I've sold several. Old lego sets sell great on ebay, $20 here and there is nice for junk still in the attic. I'm also trying to sell some of April's bridesmaids' dresses. They take up so much room in the closet. I'm not sure if they are going to sell though. Whatever clothes don't sell, I'll give to Goodwill and right off the donation.

For Christmas my brother gave me Led Zeppelin III CD for Christmas. Lately, I've been liking those slower Led Zeppelin songs. I can't get enough. My favorites recently are Achilles Last Stand, Gallow's Pole, In My Time of Dying and Over the Hills and Far Away. This is what good music is. I really like their bluesy style when the songs get a little slower.

I hope everyone has a great start to 2011. I have a feeling it's going to be a good one!
